Analysis of Survey
Who took the survey?
I put the survey on snapchat as most of my friends fitted the
16-25 demographic. This led to 17 people responding and gave me a good mixed
sample of male and females.
Analysis of Responses
1) Question:
How old are you?
Results: 16 = 7, 17 = 10
Comments
This has helped me create a
specific target audience for 16-17 year old, and what to put on the cover page
which may be appropriate to the target audience.
2) Question: Male
or Female?
Results: Males = 9, Females = 8
Comments
With a mix gender group, I can now
see include content that can be directed to both male and female without having
the cover page being biased to one over the other.
3) Question:
What’s your favourite colour?
Results: Yellow = 2, Pink = 3, Blue
= 6, Red = 2, Black = 3, Dark Green = 1
Comments
From these gathered results, I’ve
now realised what colours I may need to add to the cover page which may be the
most appealing for the target audience. With the help of letting the audience
decide for themselves the colour they like the most, I’ve now conducted that
the audience are into their light colours and a slight of dark with blue, pink
and black being the three top picked colour.
4) Question:
How often do you read magazines on a weekly basis?
Results: Never opened a magazine =
10, 1-3 hours = 7
Comments
The point of this question was to
find out how long do readers red magazines, if they didn’t read magazines
enough then I would realise that the magazines they’ve been encountered with
most not of been to appealing to them.
5) Question:
How many of those magazines are a fashion magazine?
Results: None at all = 11, 1-3 = 3,
3-6 = 1, 6-10 = 1
Comments
The point of this question was to
evaluate how many of the magazines people have read were fashion magazines,
this was because in the brief it states that I’m supposed to make and cover
page for a fashion magazine so for me to have a better understanding on how
popular an fashion magazine is to my target audience
6)
Question:
How much do you spend on fashion as a whole on a weekly basis? Roughly?
Results: Under £10 = 8, £10-£40 =
6, £40-$60 = 2, £80-£100 = 1
Comments
The reason behind asking this
questions was to find out how much people spend on their fashion because
considering how the brief is asking us to make an fashion magazine, knowing how
much money people spend on fashion in general, will give me a clearer idea on
how important fashion is to them
7) Question:
Which one is your favourite fashion magazine?
Results: Vogue = 10, GQ = 4,
Glamour = 1, Cosmopolitan = 2
Comments
With each of these fashion
magazines, being very popular in the market, I will be able to look more into
their designs to find out why they are popular and how they attract their
target audience into buying more of their magazines. So knowing which one of
the four is peoples favourite will give me a clearer idea on how to design my
cover page.
8) Question: How
much would you buy a fashion magazine for?
Results: Below £4 = 12, £4-£6 = 4,
£6-£10 = 1
Comments
With twelve people picking below
£4, I will now know that the type of magazine I need to design is more of a
low-end magazine compared to a high-end. Knowing that the target audience are
in there late teens, it’s more understandable if they’d not pay a lot for
fashion magazines because of the lack of money they may currently have.
9) Question:
Outside of fashion, what are your main interests?
Results:
Comments
With a range of different interests
people may be into, I may change an fashion magazine into a more of a sports fashion
or with to do with books, so that I can target the magazine to a more specific
audience which it may affect the most too. With knowing what type of hobbies my
target audience do, I’ll be able to interact with them more through the
magazine.
10) Question:
What’s your favourite sports brand?
Results: Nike = 14, Adidas = 2,
Under Armour = 1
Comments
As being a sporty individual, I
thought that I could design a sports fashion magazine with help for question
nine knowing if people will pick sports as a more popular out of the five. So
with knowing peoples favourite sports brand, will give me an idea of the design
of sportswear which I could get my model wearing to feature on the front cover.
As Nike, being the highest voted with 14 votes, I’ll be able to look more into
Nike designs to see why they are so popular to people.
